Etihad Air has recently updated its policy to allow pets in the cabin, a move that provides a range of benefits for pet owners and their furry family members. This article delves into why this change is a step forward, and what rules and requirements you need to be aware of.
Benefits of In-Cabin Pet Travel
Psychological Comfort
Being separated from your pet in an unfamiliar environment can induce anxiety for both you and your animal companion. In-cabin travel allows you to offer the necessary reassurance throughout the journey.
Safety
The cargo holds of airplanes can experience temperature fluctuations and poor ventilation. In-cabin travel eliminates these risks, ensuring a safer journey for your pet.
Convenience
With your pet in the cabin, you can disembark together, avoiding the hassle of retrieving your pet from a separate cargo area and making for a smoother relocation experience.
Specific Rules and Requirements
Etihad Air has outlined several rules and guidelines for in-cabin pet travel:
Eligibility
Only cats and dogs that are at least 16 weeks old are permitted. Breeds classified as ‘fighting dogs’ are not allowed.
